About the Knotts Island Ruritans
The Knotts Island Ruritans Club is a chapter of Ruritan National, and we are a volunteer organization that works to improve our local Knotts Island community through community service, fellowship, and good relations with our neighbors.
Since 1975, our chapter's purpose has been to serve and assist Knotts Island through volunteer community service and making our community a better place in which to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is "Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service." Club membership represents a cross-section of our community, and is not restrictive with regard to occupation, social position, or any other specific criteria.
Our club surveys our community as to the needs of that community and then works to meet some of those needs. In recent times, some examples of this have been:
Youth scholarships
Supporting the local PTA
Assisting the elderly with medical equipment such as walkers, etc.
Assisting neighbors who suffer loss of property due to disaster
Supporting the Girl Scouts
Assisting local religious organizations
We are always looking for new volunteers to come join our Ruritan family and help our community!
